Beautiful creatures

Have you ever wondered if lightning bugs are really little futuristic spy bugs taking photos of you?  And if so, who's hired them... an anthropologist or scientist from the future?  a lost loved one or heavenly being?  Sometimes I prefer believing that reality is based more in imaginative musings than in the doldrums of "normal society".  Why couldn't lightning bugs be more?  Or every other simply accepted belief, person, or thing.  There's so much depth to be grasped!  However as much as I like to ponder and believe these day dreams, I'd prefer they not be true as the thought of losing privacy to monitoring insects seems worse than the lack of such an interesting world.  Just to dream can be enough, and plus, they are still such beautiful creatures.

Give up defining yourself. You won’t die. You will come to life. And don’t be concerned with how others define you. When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it’s their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don’t be there primarily as a function or a role, but as the field of conscious Presence. You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are.

Sometimes, people will surprise you.  Sometimes they just prove time and again that you were dead on with your assessment.

Keeping with the beautiful disaster bit, I just think this is the most beautiful image. An uncontrollable, devastating, yet ridiculously gorgeous act of nature.  This occurred when Puyehue volcano erupted near Osorno in southern Chile on June 4th, 2011.

This and other fascinating photos from 2011 can be found here on Canada's National Post website.

a beautiful disaster

When floods consumed parts of Pakistan recently, spiders moved to higher ground finding homes and creating cocoons in these trees.  Such beauty would not have existed without provocation.  When life forcefully pushes you in a direction, there may be something magical behind it.  Listen to what you are called to do and do it with passion.  Be amazing.  Astonish.
